Mass Medium Studio is a conceptual maximalist practice that brings together all kinds of mediums to make thought-provoking, playful art. The studio mixes symbols, unorthodox methods, and unexpected materials to create work that feels a little different from the everyday.
Mass Medium Studio explores those overlooked thoughts of “what if…” and “wouldn’t it be cool if…”. The studio believes that good work begins with an interesting idea, and that’s where its focus sits. Deep or silly, the concept behind a piece is what matters most. The execution is always developing through trial, error, and constant experimentation. It may not always look perfect, but the intention is always there.
Much of the studio’s inspiration comes from the tactile world around us—the objects we use, the things we overlook, and sometimes commercial products loaded with built-in meaning. Much of the studio’s works like to warp and reframe these familiar forms by playing with scale, colour, and texture. The aim is always the same: to spark a new thought, shift perspective, or simply to create something that looks and feels different.
Language and phrases also play a big role in the studio’s work. Certain words or sayings tend to linger in everyday life, eventually finding their way into physical form. Pulling apart their literal meaning or rearranging them into something new is a process the studio is especially drawn to.
Many works develop as small series, growing from a single idea into multiple compositions. There’s no fixed direction or defined style—just ongoing experimentation and a willingness to follow creativity as well as curiosity.
The practice spans collectible sculptures, limited-edition prints, original artworks, and one-off experimental objects. All pieces are intended to give nuance to their surrounding space. As the name of the studio suggests, no single medium defines the work.
Mass Medium Studio is based in Sydney, currently building, exploring, and experimenting, seeing where the ideas lead next.
Located on Wangal Country, Mass Medium Studio acknowledges the Wangal people of the Eora Nation as the traditional custodians of this land and waters.
